Heating FAQ

Hillcrest Plumbers Answer Common Heating Questions

We’ve compiled a list of the most common heating questions asked over the year, and had our expert heating technicians answer them. This list will continue to grow.

What is HVAC?

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation and air cooling. A HVAC system is essential for any home to maintain perfect living temperatures.

Heater Making Noise?

The air filter may be blocked. Check and clean the filter, or replace it. Make sure the heater and its surrounding is debris free. If it’s been over a year since the heater has been tuned, get a licensed heater to fix it for you.

How Much Does a New Heating System Cost?

An understanding of your home, needs, and structures will dictate the price. There are too many variables to consider, so a price can only be provided after an investigation of these variables.

How Often Should I Get My Heater Checked?

We recommend having your heating systems checked and maintained once a year. The manufacturer of your systems will most likely recommend the same thing. Call Hillcrest Plumbing today for precision tuneup.

What Temperature Should I Set My Thermostat?

Setting your thermostat depends on your personal preference and the time of the year. In general, 18°C – 21°C is a normal room temperature that is comfortable for most people. During the Winter time, ensure that you do not leave your doors and windows open for an extended period of time as it will require your heating system to work extra hard.

What Water Heater Should I Choose?

There are several types of water heaters available on the market, and one isn’t a clear winner over the others. It all depends on your the hot water needs of your household (or business). To make it easy for you to choose the right hot water unit, we created a detailed Hot Water Tank Buyer’s Guide that’ll point you in the right direction.

Am I Eligible for Federal Tax Credit If I Purchase a New Heating System?

Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating’s heating systems qualify for Federal Tax Credit. This means that once we have finished installing the heating system, we will provide the homeowner with proper documentation that can be used to obtain back 30% of the installation cost as credit, up to a maximum of $1,500.
