Hillcrest Plumbing – A Part of Vancouver’s Plumbing History

Our story is one that starts over 50 years ago, when company founder Bill Schroeder purchased Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating back in 1967. It took years of hard work before Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating became the business it is today. As a young man, growing up in Vancouver BC, Bill fell in love with plumbing at an early age. He got his start at a local company called Crane Plumbing.

This was a plumbing wholesaler at the time that specialized in plumbing equipment and parts. Bill finally began working as a plumber for a man named Harry Dash who owned the the first instance of Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating in Vancouver.

The two worked together for some years, laying the foundational values of hard work, genuineness, and commitment that remains with the company to this day. After some time working with Harry, Bill purchased full ownership of the business once Harry had retired. He was determined to build on the legacy that Harry left behind, and took over the company Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating in 1967.

After he took over the business, the company’s main focus was still on selling parts and tools to plumbers, instead of providing plumbing services. Bill knew plenty about the tools plumbers needed, but initially, they didn’t offer any plumbing services.

The Expansion

It wasn’t until people in the community began calling the store with plumbing emergencies, looking for plumbers. It was then that Bill decided to expand his business to include plumbing services so that he could help those customers in need of plumbing and heating problems. Bill started by hiring a few plumbers to service these customers and from there grew into one of Vancouver’s most recognized plumbing brands.

The first Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating location was on bustling Main Street, in Vancouver. The business shares a deep history with this city and its residents. For years we have served the community with trusted excellence in plumbing and heating solutions.

Decades Of Dedication

Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating became one of the top resources for plumbing and heating services throughout the Lower Mainland. To this day, we seek to combine the traditional company values of hard work and excellent service, with a thorough education and expertise in the field. Our team has grown over the years. And we service all of the Lower Mainland from the North Shore to Langley.

We love to give back to the community and we support multiple charity organizations and local events. As Hillcrest Plumbing & Heating moves into the 21st century, rest assured that the Hillcrest of today hasn’t forgotten the legacy and values of its founder.
